The Brief
A homeowner in Lower Parkstone, Poole reached out to us about installing blinds on the five floor-to-ceiling windows in their living room.
Full-length windows are a beautifully modern way to brighten up a space and take in panoramic views. However, they also tend to let in quite a bit of harsh glare and heat, especially during the summer months – the biggest issues for the homeowner in this case. They wanted a solution that would allow them to better control the lighting levels in their living room while also helping to insulate the space and keep temperatures comfortable when the sun is blazing outside.
The Solution
As always, we started with a complimentary in-home consultation. We carefully measured each window and had an in-depth discussion with the homeowners to get a clear picture of their needs and personal style preferences.
After presenting them with various options and sharing our expert advice, they ultimately chose a set of sleek day-and-night roller blinds from the Vision line – the perfect blend of style and functionality.
Day-and-night blinds, also called zebra blinds, feature alternating horizontal stripes of sheer and opaque fabric. By rolling the blind up or down, the homeowner would be able to adjust how much light filters through the window, allowing them to have a variety of settings, from a gentle filtering of light during the day to complete darkness at night.
The blinds were custom designed to match the living room’s light, airy colour scheme, with Modello White fabric and 70 mm white aluminium cassettes.
To really take their blinds to the next level, the homeowners also upgraded to Louvolite’s One Touch® motorisation. This allowed them to raise and lower any (or all) of their blinds with just a tap on their phone app, a remote control click, or even a voice command to Alexa or Google Home.
After finalising the design for their custom blinds, we moved on to installation. We mounted each blind onto the windows, making sure to eliminate gaps or misalignments from one side to the other. As you can see in the pictures, the end result was a flawless, cohesive look. We also tested the motorised operation to guarantee smooth opening and closing every time.
