Blue is the new black
There’s a reason Pantone’s colour of the year is Classic Blue and that’s because blue is just that, classic. This timeless shade is available in an endless array of tones, from pretty pastel eggshell to sumptuous and timeless royal navy which means it’s super easy to incorporate into your home, no matter your existing style.
Add different textures for extra interest
2020 is already seeing a mix of different textures in interior design. Layering various accessories in complementary colours, such as fluffy cushions, smooth metallic candle holders and dappled vases, is a fail-safe way of incorporating this trend into your own home. Our stylists here at Broadview are loving incorporating this trend into rooms with roman blinds in luxurious fabrics and wooden shutters being two popular choices.
Traditional prints contrasted with modern details
Who said old and new shouldn’t mix? Contrasting traditional prints on curtains and blinds with modern and minimalist furniture is bang on trend in 2020. Try pairing pretty floral patterns with statement pieces in one block colour for maximum effect.
Animal print curtains are back
The key to creating this look without your living room ending up looking like a safari is to keep the animal print to a minimum. Choose just one or two pieces of furniture or furnishings with your desired pattern, such as a rug, cushions, blinds or curtains, and keeping the rest of the room neutral to help the print stand out.
Contrast colourful blinds with pale walls
For the past few years, we’ve seen safe, complementary colours take centre stage in the interior design world but for the past few months we’ve seen a rise in the popularity of contrasting colours. A great example of this is pairing bright, bold curtains or blinds (perhaps in the on-trend classic blue) with very light-coloured walls.
Take your inspiration from the stars
Designers in 2020 have been looking upwards for their inspiration as we’re seeing a rise in the demand of celestial inspired fabrics for our customer’s blinds and curtains. We don’t mean the hugely detailed and colourful illustrations used in the classroom but simple starry patterns in sophisticated golds, silvers and coppers.
