Yes, our awnings are remote operated. Every Brustor awning we install can be fitted with a Somfy motor and handset, so you extend it, retract it and set the projection without leaving your seat.

Whether you’re hosting drinks in the garden or getting stuck into your current read, getting up each time the weather changes isn’t particularly relaxing, especially with the British weather being as volatile as it is. That’s why our awnings can be operated with a remote control.

Introducing the Somfy remote control

The Somfy handset is a clever device with the potential to control 16 channels. That means one remote can run your awning, your screens, your lighting and your heating, or several awnings across a wide patio. With the press of a button, you can:

Extend and retract your awning

Roll the awning out when the sun comes round onto the patio, and bring it back into its cassette when you’re finished. If a shower blows in, you retract it from where you’re sitting rather than walking out into it. Retracting the awning in wind and rain is also what keeps the fabric and the arms in good condition year after year.

Set the projection to match the sun

An awning doesn’t have to be all the way out or all the way in. Stop it part way to take the glare off the table without shading the whole garden, then run it out to its full projection as the sun drops. Depending on the model, that’s up to 3.75m from the wall on the B24, and up to 3.5m on the B38.

Lower the drop valance or vertical screen

Low evening sun comes in under the front bar, which is the one thing shade overhead can’t fix. If your awning is specified with a drop valance or a vertical screen, the same handset lowers it: more sun protection, shelter from the breeze, and a bit of privacy from those nosy neighbours.

Control the LED lighting

Integrated LED lighting comes as standard on our Prestige models and can be added to others, so the patio still works after dark. Depending on the lighting option you choose, you’ll be able to turn the lights on and off or set the brightness.

Switch your patio heater on and off

Feeling a bit chilly? Reach for your remote control and simply turn your heaters on. This functionality truly makes your garden an all-year-round space.

Add wind and sun sensors

If you’d rather not think about it at all, Somfy automation sensors can be added to the same system. A wind sensor retracts the awning on your behalf when it gusts, which matters most on the days you’re out and the forecast changes. A sun sensor runs it out as the light comes round.
