The latest window blind trends in 2020

As we conclude the first quarter of 2020, it’s time to reflect on what styles of window dressing are hot this year.

Natural fabrics and colours

Prior to 2019-2020, greys and cool colours were preferred, but we are seeing this starting to change. A trend that has been developing over the last few years is a movement towards more natural, organic tones and fabrics and away from artificial patterns and colours. Beige, cream, woody and white blinds and curtains create a subtle effect and suit almost any room and décor, which makes them a popular choice for homeowners.

People are increasingly using their furniture, like wooden tables and chairs, to inform their window dressing choices. Rattans, cane and bamboo are all becoming increasingly popular, which has led to an increasing interest in woven wood shades.

The rise of motorised blinds

Modern homeowners today don’t just want great looks, they want convenience too. The use of smart blinds is on the rise in 2020, and they allow you to control the amount of light in your home with just the touch of a button or voice command. Electric blinds are particularly useful for those with lots of floor-to-ceiling windows or windows that are out of reach.

Another influence driving this trend is the movement towards cordless blinds. Cords can be considered a safety hazard to children and pets; installing automated blinds removes the need for them entirely, making them the safest option.

At Broadview Blinds, we make sure that our portfolio of designs and fabrics reflects the latest trends, so you can find the perfect option to suit your home. Contact us today on 01202 679 012 to book a free design consultation.
